Lane Simon is an attorney at Magnolia Law, where represents he individuals in various areas of family law including, divorces, child custody, child support, community property division, intrafamily adoptions and civil protective orders. His dedication to detail, as well as his approachability ensures that his clients are knowledgeable about every aspect of their case, while also offering a comforting hand to people who are going through a difficult period in their lives.
Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Lane’s work ethic was developed through the long hours he spent working on his family’s cattle farm as a child. That same work ethic propelled him to success in his undergraduate years at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a specific concentration in Legal Studies in 2018. While attending the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, he made the President’s List and was awarded the Political Science Department’s Paper of the Semester for the Spring of 2018 for a mock Appellate Brief that he wrote.
His success continued at the Louisiana State University, where he obtained a Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2021. During his time as a law student, Lane was awarded CLEA’s Outstanding Clinical Student Award for his time spent as extern at the Louisiana Department of Justice for the Spring 2021 semester. His evaluation noted that he “not only met but exceeded all expectations”, and that he would be “a great addition to the Louisiana legal community.” Lane also fulfilled a life-long dream of being a published writer when his article examining the effects of the Supreme Court’s decision in Bostock v. Clayton County on Louisiana’s employment discrimination laws was featured in the LSU Law Journal for Social Justice and Policy.
Lane’s success as a student has continued in his professional career, which began with a stint as a Staff Attorney at the East Baton Rouge Family Court, where he worked directly with a family court judge in assisting with decisions for complex trial cases. After working at the East Baton Rouge Family Court, Lane went into private practice where he has been since 2022. As an associate at Magnolia Law, Lane brings a considerable amount of knowledge and experience to the vast array of cases that he handles and he will do the same for yours!
